Kevin Schmidt Nabs TV Mom for a New Gig!
Sharon Case (Sharon) appeared in the second season finale of Kevin Schmidt's (Noah) labor of love, the original internet series Poor Paul as Bonnie's long-lost mother. The web series has attracted other seasoned professionals. Guillermo Diaz, who is a regular in Showtime's Weeds, appeared this season. Veteran character actor Richard Riehle, best known as the Jump to Conclusions guy in Office Space, guest starred as Paul's crazy grandfather in Season One and Season Two. Mandy Jiroux of the Beach Girl5 also guest stars.
Kevin explained how it all began, "I got together with some friends last year and a short time later Poor Paul was created." He plays Justin, an over-achieving, condescending intellectual who has two roommates, Paul and Clyde. "We love the show because it's creative freedom. We are in charge of what our fans see. We're creating something I'm very proud of, it's the newest format in story-telling." he added. "We have a great team."
Schmidt is already a veteran in the entertainment business at 20, having starred as one of Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt's kids in the Cheaper by the Dozen movies when he was only 14 and going on to Disney Channel movies such as the recent Princess Protection Program with Selena Gomez. He recently appeared in the theatrical release Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel on Christmas Day. He also produced, wrote and directed the dance/instructional DVD The Alyson Stoner Project with his Cheaper by the Dozen co-star, Alyson Stoner.
Poor Paul has already been honored with an official 2009 Webby Award. "We have a small budget by TV standards," Schmidt said, "but we create some amazing production value with it."
