Sally was devastated when she found out about Snapper's engagement. She took a drug overdose, but Brad saved her life when he found her and rushed her to the hospital. When she was out and about again, Sally told her boss, Pierre Roulland that she was pregnant. He was in love with her and offered to marry her and give the baby his name. No one would have to know he was not the father.

Sally intended to tell Snapper that he had gotten her pregnant, hoping he would break his engagement to Chris and marry her instead. When Snapper's mom, Liz, found out, she did her best to change Sally's mind about interfering with Snapper's future. Liz's counseling worked. Sally accepted Pierre's proposal and they eloped a few days before Chris and Snapper's wedding.

Although Snapper overheard the conversation between Sally and his mother, Snapper had no intention of changing his plans. He and Chris had a lovely wedding. Even Chris' sister Lorie returned from Europe for the celebration. Except for the continuing jealousy and rivalry between Lorie and "preferred child" Leslie, it was a happy family occasion.

After an uneasy sexual start, Chris and Snapper worked through her problems and were happy together, living in a small apartment. When Chris became pregnant, however, Snapper's pleasure was tinged by fears that having another responsibility might hinder his medical career aspirations.
