Returning Cast Members Speak Out!

Michael Damian

How was it seeing so many old friends?

"It has been great seeing Beth Maitland (Traci), remember we were married. My character was trying to help her out. We were friends. I slept on the couch at the Abbott house! It was really great seeing her again as well as Tricia (Nina) and Tracey Bregman (Lauren) who I was also engaged to on the show. "

"There was a storyline that they left unresolved where, one Christmas, Traci gave Danny a scarf and she gave the scarf to Lauren to give to me and Lauren pretended that she had made it for me, put her name on it. My wife, to this day, says 'You know, they never really resolved that storyline.' I am still waiting for that scene when I go up to Lauren and say 'remember that scarf you made 20 years ago.' The truth is finally revealed! [he laughs]"

How was the taping?

"We are all here to celebrate Katherine Chancellor. There were a lot of great speeches. Rarely do you do scenes that get such a strong reaction from the cast and the crew like the scenes we shot at the memorial service. People would tear up and applaud after each take. Beau Kizer did a great job delivering the eulogy as Brock!"

Do you have a favorite memory of Jeanne?

"Jeanne Cooper and I were in South Carolina for a charity event and, of course, it was 98 degrees with 90% humidity. We are staying at the mansion, a private home, and Jeanne comes knocking on my door. I open the door and there's Jeanne with a bathrobe and her hair was a mess. She says, 'my hair! What do I do with my hair?' Back then, in the eighties, I had big hair. I had won awards for that do! And Jeanne said, 'What do I do?' and I said "Come in, let me take care of you.' And I pulled out my blow dryer, my hairspray and my hair gel and I did her hair. I had a technique where I would use the blow dryer, and then the hair spray and then blow dryer. By the time I was finished, we both had the 80's big hair look, hers looked like a mullet. Jeanne said 'this works' and we both changed into our evening attire and I escorted her downstairs where everyone reacted to our very large hair [laughing]. We looked like twins!"

You performed at a charity event recently and I was so surprised at the amount of teens that flocked to see you!

"The kids of my fans! Rows and rows of them in front of the stage. There was more than 15,000 people who came out for the event. It was a Walk for Cancer held in Massachusetts and it was very successful."

You have a new album coming out. Tell us about it…

"It will probably be titled 'Michael Damian: Then and Now' Right now, you can't get a lot of my music on iTunes. You can't get 'Rock on', my music from Joseph (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Raincoat), you can't download any of my music. So what I have done is re-recorded all the tracks. What's cool about it is that 2009 is my 20th anniversary of 'Rock On' so we have re-recorded it, using all of the original musicians, with the exception of a full orchestra with live strings. They are all at the top of the field. It was really great getting back in the studio and working with them, creating the fresh 2009 version of the old tunes but still keeping the classic instrumentation of them along with new music."

Tricia Cast

How was your return to Genoa City?

"It was great fun! It was really nice when they called and asked me to come out for four days. It was nice, nice opportunity to catch up with everyone."

What's Nina been up to since she left GC?

"Nina has been screenwriting but apparently not selling anything."

And what has Tricia been doing?

"I have been blissfully doing nothing except every once in a while I will pick up a play or a little movie role will come my way. I am a sewer. I sew a lot! I have sewn every drape and pillow in the house. I have a garden. I grow spring, summer and fall. There's a vegetable and herb garden. We have three dogs!"

How was it having so much time on your hands after the grueling hours of daytime?

"It took me a while to get past the fact that I wasn't earning a paycheck because I had been working since I was twelve. For about a year, it was great but that passed. Now I do a project here and there." *She has a new film due out in 2009 called Old Habits Die Hard.

Was there anyone particular you were excited about seeing on the set?

"I was really excited to see everyone but most excited about seeing Lauralee (Christine). She was my best friend here. I haven't seen her yet but I will. The crew, of course. We worked together for 14 years. Just everybody!"

Look for interviews with Beau Kizer (Brock), Patti Weaver (Gina) and Beth Maitland (Traci) coming soon! ;-)
