He's Back!

Thom Bierdz took over the role of Phillip Chancellor III in 1986 and quickly became a fan favorite. The Chancellor heir at the time was stuck in the middle of a bitter custody battle between Jill (Jess Walton) and Katherine (Jeanne Cooper), where he had to hear first hand of his father's affair with Jill, Katherine's use of power and money to win the affections of impressionable young men and how her drinking and anger lead to his father's fatal accident. Phillip was a painfully shy teenager but soon found himself drawn to Christine (Lauralee Bell). To bolster his self-confidence, he began drinking. Christine was dating Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) at the time but proved to be a good friend and a good listener. Christine's best friend Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) had her sight set on Phillip and played to his insecurities, driving him to drink more. One night she seduced him and, much to her happy surprise, wound up pregnant.

Nina planned on keeping the baby, having already given a baby up for adoption as a young teenager. Jill was fit to be tied and planned on proving the baby wasn't Phillip's. Katherine went as far as locking Nina up in the attic of the Chancellor attic! Phillip was torn between his feelings for Christine and his need to do the right thing by Nina. Phillip Chancellor IV was delivered by an emergency cesarean section, which left Nina in critical condition. The idea of building a life with Phillip and their son pulled her through. A paternity test proved that he was a Chancellor. That didn't stop Jill and Katherine from offering Nina a million bucks to leave town. Nina turned it down, planning to win Phillip's love.

Christine pulled away from Phillip, feeling that his place was next to his son. Eventually, she played matchmaker for Nina and Phillip. Phillip proposed. Despite Jill's behind the scenes manipulations, including an attempt to prove Nina was an unfit mother, Nina and Phillip were married. Their union had a tragic ending when Phillip, drunk from an office party, was killed in an automobile accident. Or so fans thought...

Phillip Chancellor III is back from the dead! Can't wait to find out how and why. The ripple effect will surely touch all the residents of Genoa City, Wisconsin. While you consider the possibilities, explore the photo gallery and get familiar with Thom Bierdz.
