Maria Bell Brings Out the Stars For MOCA
On Saturday, November 14, Maria Arena Bell, along with Eli Broad, Larry Gagosian and Dasha Zhukova, hosted a star-studded gala to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, California. The event coincided with the opening of the exhibition Collection: MOCA's First Thirty Years. Cast members of The Young and the Restless joined a community of stars and contemporary artists to support the not-for-profit institution known for its world-class permanent collection of nearly 6,000 works international in scope and among the finest in the nation; hallmark education programs that are widely emulated; award-winning publications that present original scholarship; and groundbreaking monographic, touring, and thematic exhibitions of international repute.
Following the private preview, guests enjoyed dinner under a tented marquee in front of the museum. During the course of dinner, a new performance work conceived by artist Francesco Vezzoli was presented exclusively for the gala. Vezzoli's work, entitled Ballets Russes Italian Style (The Shortest Musical You Will Never See Again), starring Lady Gaga and dancers from the Bolshoi Ballet, who performed the world premiere of Speechless. The performance is made possible by Gagosian Gallery and Garage Center for Contemporary Culture, Moscow.
